This long-term, large-scale event branding project for the Downtown Austin Alliance includes everything from concept ideation to 5-story animation projections. The basis of this visual identity was rooted in making sure that the idea of holidays transcended the idea of a single tradition while being captivating and colorful. Merging intentional diversity and bright Rankin-Bass-inspired illustrations, the Holiday Stroll branding became something that truly showcased the spirit of the season. Over the last 4 years, my role has been to ideate, design, and execute all aspects of the event's branding.
This flexible design system makes it easy to interchange the graphics for social media and print ads, event signage, the Holiday Stroll website, and more. A series of social, web, and print ad campaigns was launched to encourage Austinites to participate in downtown Y'alliday happenings.
At the event, branding elements are found prominently throughout the space. Branded signage provided brand awareness, sponsor recognition, wayfinding, and interactive photo opportunities for folks to immerse themselves in the event.
In addition to creating traditional branding elements, Holiday Stroll leaned into experiential branding as well. From branded projections lighting up the skyline to musical boxes that let passersby hear their favorite holiday song, the Holiday Stroll branding system offers new opportunities for unique and magical implementation each year.
